“My favorite way to work is for a photographer to explain what they are going for and I interpret and deliver just that. I have never not delivered as I always know what my clients want, even if they don’t!“When I’m trusted and with little direction I work best because that’s when my own creativity kicks in,” she continues. “When I’m rigidly directed, I become frustrated easily and lose the excitement for the job. A lot of the times when I’m heavily directed, I’ll get into a pose nonchalantly in between takes and wait for the photographer to notice. They always do and that shot tends to be in the final selection.”
Kae uses her body to celebrate and encourage femininity, blackness
Kae is tired of women of color being told they’re either “not enough,” or “too much.”
“A lot of what I do is to celebrate the unsung heroes . . . who are the source of creativity, expression and love in untold forms,” Kae says in an email interview.
While studying dance in college, Kae discovered how to use her body as a form of expression. She realized, “I could never be delicate or graceful, everything in me was raw passion and emotion.”
With a K cup size, Kae is very familiar with objectification and body shame.
